The Stan Sheriff Arena at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus hosted an event last night to celebrate one of the best causes ever–scholarships for deserving college students and graduate students.
Among those at the party were Ric and Margie Wo, representing the Benedict and Miriam Lau Foundation with their scholarship recipients. The dinner celebration allows the scholarship recipients and the donors to meet face-to-face and learn more about each other.
First-year medical student Rachel Lee (MD Class of 2019) is the Wo Opportunity Scholarship awardee. Sean Awakuni and Thomas Keola Kane, also members of the MD Class of 2019, hold Wo Achievement Scholarships.
2015-2016 was the first year the Wo Scholarships were awarded. In total, 48 scholarships will be awarded during the life of the scholarships, through 2021.
