There’s an interesting event — a first of its kind — happening on our campus this week. Here’s a quick look at the details:
WHO: Stakeholders and community members interested in making Honolulu a more livable, healthy, and vibrant place. Your participation and knowledge about our local food system ‐including culture, economy, and way of life ‐ are necessary to help make this effort a success!
WHAT: Planning workshops on local foods and community livability in Kakaʻako and Honolulu, that will result in a Food System Action Plan. A team of experts will cover topics relating to transit‐oriented development, coastal adaptation, environmental stewardship, and community building. These workshops will build on current efforts, identify missing elements, prioritize next steps, and highlight roles, responsibilities, and resources to move forward and strengthen our
local food system.
WHY: In 2015, our community submitted an application for technical assistance from the federal Local Foods, Local Places initiative. Honolulu was among 27 communities selected to develop a Food System Action Plan ‐ a first in Hawaiʻi.
The kickoff is Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Click for the full schedule outline and sponsor information. Honolulu Aug 3-5 2016 Flyer Workshop Outline
