Strategic Plan review and update advances during weekend session

Members of the medical school faculty and administrative leadership met on Saturday, August 27, to take stock of current progress in the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) strategic plan. This interactive meeting, moderated by Patricia Blanchette, MD, Interim Associate Dean, was to take stock, to review major objectives that had been completed and those that are currently ongoing.

The topics focused in areas targeted for excellence, including Education & Teaching, Research & Discovery, Clinical Healing, Community Service, and the support services that facilitate research, education, communication and clinical healing (RECC), and Capitalizing on Opportunities.

Presenters included Dean Jerris Hedges, MD, William Haning, MD, Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Dr. Mariana Gershenson, Director of Research, Roy Magnusson, MD, CEO of University Health Partners of Hawaiʻi (also known as UCERA), Robin Miyamoto, PsyD, of the Department of Native Hawaiian Health and JABSOM CFO Nancy Foster. The presenters thanked the team members who had participated in their pre-work to this session, pulling together information, and offering suggestions on goals and objectives for emphasis.
