Our medical students from the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Gold Humanism Honor Society have set up an interactive Christmas tree in the Medical Education Lobby. The tree, in the corner of the lobby, has blank paper ornaments next to it.

Students, faculty (or even anyone who has been a patient recently) are invited to stop by to write down a short thought or message about an experience they would like to share that represented a good example of “humanism” in medicine.

“Whether you just started medical school or are interviewing for residencies, we all have some experience related to patient care that was memorable to us,” said Ivan Chik, a member of the MD Class of 2017 at the University of Hawaiʻi and an officer in the JABSOM Society chapter. “We thought this would be a nice way to share those positive thoughts and experiences with everyone else!”
