Pictured: The Ice Cream Sundae Kickoff in 2014.
The Internal Giving Campaign at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) begins this Friday, October 20 with the traditional Ice Cream (and now Sorbet also!) Kickoff in the Waiola Cafe from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Our Starting from the Inside Out faculty-and-staff campaign is another way to show our support for the University of Hawai’i medical school’s basic mission to teach and train high-quality physicians, biomedical scientists, and allied health workers for Hawaiʻi and the Pacific.
The number of JABSOM employees participating in the Internal Giving Campaign has risen steadily over the years. Last year’s campaign attracted 404 employees–who gave more than $699,000 to support 75 different funds at the John A. Burns School of Medicine.
FOUR of our school departments had 100% participation!
It doesn’t matter WHAT you give — any amount is terrific!! — it’s getting everyone involved that matters the most!
The campaign runs from October 20 through November 20. Click below to find your department or to search for a fund by name or number.

The first week includes a Matching Gift Challenge!
IF YOU GIVE OR PLEDGE BEFORE OCTOBER 27, YOUR GIFT WILL BE “MATCHED” WITH SOME EXTRA MONEY THAT WILL GO TO THE FUND OF YOUR CHOICE!
Please join us in the cafe for free ice cream, served up by our 2017 Internal Giving Campaign Co-Chairs Dr. Larry Burgess, Director of Student Affairs, and Dr. Anthony Guerrero, Chair of Psychiatry. Both of them are proud JABSOM alumni.
