Take a look around the third floor of the Medical Education Building (MEB), just before the Auditorium. There you will see some MD Student White Coats, each adorned with a message meant to reinforce the MD values of compassionate care and putting patients first.
Supply drive for homeless citizens
Each year, the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) hosts a one-week event in February to celebrate humanistic patient-centered care and encourage reflection and discussion among students, faculty, and the community. Please support the Society as they focus on the impact of empathy, acts of kindness, and humanity on healthcare.
The students are asking for donations on behalf of the JABSOM Homeless Outreach and Medical Education (HOME) Project. GHHS will be collecting items in bins on the third floor MEB area near the auditorium. The students are especially interested in the following:
Shoes (new or lightly used)
Socks
Slippers (new)
Hairbrushes
Razors and shaving cream
First-aid kits
Flashlights/lanterns
Reading glasses
Nail clippers
Pumice stones

Student Activities
GHHS members are asking their fellow students to focus on those who matter most in the study of healthcare – their patients. As part of the national Tell Me More ® campaign, medical students will be asked to spend time talking to patients about something other than their medical issues, to get to know a little more about them as unique individuals, and learn something meaningful in the process. All submissions from our local campaign will be showcased at the end of the week, and one lucky winner will be picked at random from the entries to win a Starbucks gift card.
