$728,877 was pledged during the 2017 Internal Giving Campaign (IGC) at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), University of Hawaiʻi.

To celebrate, the wrap-up celebration is once again a “Mahalo Nacho” event in the JABSOM Cafeteria, this Friday, February 16, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Come celebrate with us and get some nachos, free, while they last!

About the IGC
At JABSOM, philanthropy begins in the center of the circle: family first. Here we believe that if we are asking others to give, our ʻohana should be the first to give.

Each fall for the past ten years, JABSOM has conducted an internal giving campaign – Starting From the Inside Out – that asks faculty and staff to provide financial support for the school. Before the most recent campaign, “internal givers” already had donated nearly $3 million dollars to support the projects and programs at JABSOM that matter most to them. Mahalo!

There is a difference between being paid for the work we do – our jobs – and our personal commitment. Employee donations effectively say, “We believe in this school enough to actually invest in it ourselves, to give of our personal resources.”

The campaign, co-chaired by Psychiatry Chair Tony Guerrero, MD and Office of Student Affairs Director Larry Burgess, MD, ran from October 20 – November 20 2017.
