Rich Meiers led Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi and helped found the Farrington Health Academy at Farrington High School in Kalihi.
Memorial services are scheduled Thursday, April 19, 2018 to honor the life of Rich Meiers, former leader of the Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi (HAH), who passed away after a long illness.
Mr. Meiers was HAH President and CEO for nearly 20 years, and served on the boards of many healthcare institutions in Hawaiʻi. Many important healthcare initiatives were undertaken during his tenure at HAH, including the founding of the Farrington Health Academy. The Farrington Health Academy is a three-year program aimed at preparing students for post-secondary studies in a career in health services fields. Mr. Meiers is survived by his wife, Lynn, and his children, Cindy and Richie.
The University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) is a member of the HAH, and Dean Jerris R. Hedges, MD, expressed his admiration for Mr. Meiers “steady leadership, always delicately infused with Aloha.”
The services will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, at 5919 Kalanianaʻole Highway. Viewing is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with the funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m. and burial at 1 p.m. at Punchbowl, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, 2177 Puowaina Drive.

Scholarship Information
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise money for a healthcare administration scholarship created in Rich’s name in 2009, when he retired from HAH.
“He always wanted to grow the next generation of healthcare administrators and leaders…whether through lunch ‘mentor’ sessions, talking on the phone, or the scholarship,” wrote his daughter Cindy Meiers.
People who would like to donate and receive a tax acknowledgement letter are encouraged to donate directly through the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, which administers the scholarship.
