A message from Dr. Jill Omori, Hawai’i HOME Project Founder
The Hawaiʻi Homeless Outreach and Medical Education (HOME) Project is once again sponsoring a school supply drive for the homeless children that we work with. This year we will be providing supplies for the kids at the Kaka’ako Family Assessment Center, the Oneluaena and Onemalu Shelters in Kalaeloa, the Waianae Pai’olu Kaiaulu Shelter, and the IHS Women’s and Children’s Shelter.
As you can imagine, there are many barriers to homeless children getting a good education and obtaining proper school supplies should not be one of them. We have approximately 350 children in need of school supplies this year.
Please consider “adopting” a child for school supplies. If you are interested, we will give you the grade and school supply list for an individual child and you would be responsible for providing all the items on the list for that child. We are also asking that you purchase an appropriate backpack. You can do this as an individual or a group of friends! The average cost for one child is $50 to $75 dollars, but if you are a super shopper, you can definitely get it all for cheaper.
If you would like to participate, please email me and I will forward you the information for your child.
All supplies must be collected by Friday, July 27.

You can also make a donation to adopt a child and we will do the shopping for you!
