For MD students at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine (UH JABSOM), the third year represents a transition from the classroom setting into learning at JABSOM’s teaching hospital/clinic partners. They’ll be mentored by accomplished faculty in the wards at Kapiʻolani Medical Center, Straub Medical Center, Pali Momi Medical Center, Kuakini Medical Center, The Queen’s Medical Center and Mililani Physician Center.
“Going into the hospitals and starting to learn about medicine and the application of all the things that we’ve been learning for the last two years, I think, is really exciting,” said Derron Maki, MD 2020 Candidate.
