In the days before The Men’s March Against Domestic Violence on October 8, 2015, Honorary March Chair Jerris Hedges, MD fearlessly shared his own story about growing up in a home with domestic violence.  And when the march day arrived, he led the march through Honoluluʻs streets on with a near-record number of participants.

Among those taking part in the walk this year were a handful of John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) students (most had classes to attend, unfortunately), along with Office of Student Affairs Director Dr. Richard Smerz and Associate Dean for Medical Education Dr. Richard Kasuya, and some of the leading men and women executives at the medical school, who handed out water and encouragement as the march neared its finish.

The University of Hawaiʻi as a whole showed up strong, with athletes and coaches (football, baseball and basketball) from UH Mānoa and lots of other staff in green UH logo wear. Mahalo to all those who helped in this yearʻs meaningful march!

In our video, JABSOM’s Dean delivers a speech at the march wrap-up event near Honolulu Hale.
