The University of Hawai’i Cancer Center hosted its annual Quest for the Cure event in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with first-account stories by breast cancer survivors and updates from Hawai’i-based researchers who are trying to find cures, and improve cancer treatments for people in our Island State.
Over 1,000 women in Hawai’i find out every year that they have breast cancer. Katie Manuma bravely describes her diagnosis, how she broke the news to her family, and how she struggled through treatment and survived.
